  • Got a question about this '62.

    Hi all,

This '62 has a 6 banger in it, but has a TT rear end they claim. Would this be a Dana 27 TT? I'm not buying it, but am trying to figure this out, lol.

    Thanks!

Sure, if it is original it would be a model 27 Twin Traction, unless someone changed it to a 44 TT or?

Sixes had them too you know, Studebaker advertised the TT for snow, mud and ice, not racing! [^]

Late '65's and '66's with 6 Cyl. even had model 27 TT's with flanged axles, when ordered with TT! [:0]

I'm not a fan of Twin-Traction for driving on snow and ice. Yes it gives you twice the traction for accelerating, but it also makes the car fishtail once both tires break loose.

              Hey Dylan,
My 66 Daytona with A 6 came with a Dana 44 TT 3:31 and yes on ice and snow it will sling ya sideways if ya over push the go pedal.

Yeah, my 63 has the 27 TT. I think she is getting ready to quit on me by the sounds she is making. Anyone have a used one in good shape for a decent price? I was thinking about ordering one from SI when she finally goes...but I would rather have one on hand, just in case.

Interesting mixes here! My dad's '62 sedan has a 44 TT in it, with the OHV 6, but that was our own transplant,LOL! Sure is fun to spin the tires with it, even if it is just a little bit,LOL! Oh, and is the parts available to turn a regualar 27 into a TT? We have a couple regualar ones kicking around (Ok, 3, LOL!), and it would be fun to get some better gearing for the 6, with the TT.
