  • '54 Hub Caps Need a Little Work

    The chrome is excellent while the gold dog dish is pretty faded and/or gone with age.

    Any advice on restoring the gold?

    Buy the tinted clear from Studebaker International. Buff the centers properly with some sort of buffing compound or no less than rubbing compound. Use some type of buffer pad or wheel on a drill no less. After real shiny, {might as well buff the whole wheel cover} wash thoroughly with soapy water. Rinse,dry, and then wipe with prep solvent. Tack rag and then paint at bout 70 degrees or a bit warmer. No less. jimmijim
