Did the 48 / 49 Champions not have the front fender side vents like the bullet nose cars had?

I love the Red car. Visor and spot lights,I remember how cool I thought all that was way back when.

What was the idea behind the spotlights on civilian cars?
Was it a passing fancy like the visors?
I noticed the bullet nose has one also.
The only thing I recollect using a spot light for back in the day, was for spotting deer.

60 years ago in rural areas, there wasn't any light other than the moon, so a spotlight came in handy when trying to look at something not on the road. See if the barn is latched, is the windmill working, how many cows are there, does that girl in the back seat have a blouse on......

All sorts of things.
