  • 2 RARE Studebaker Signs I found!

    Hello Everyone!
I live 15 miles from the old Studebaker testing ground.
Well I went to look at a gun cabinet a guy advertised for sale.
When I walked in his garage he had an Avanti and these 2 signs hanging on his garage wall!
I looked at his gun cabinets and passed because they were newer fiberboard...
I then asked what he needed for the signs...
He said he'd have to ask his wife??? hahaha
I then asked what he paid for them and he said he'd have to ask his wife BUT he thought $200...
I asked if $1000 would buy them and AGAIN he said let me ask my wife??? So I said Listen Sir.....
It's Christmas and all....I'll give you your Original 200 Back that you paid for the signs, PLUS I'll give you $1000 on top of that for a total of $1200 BUT ONLY on 1 condition!!!!
The guy stopped and paused.....and said What condition is that????
I said YOU DON'T ASK YOUR WIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!
He laughed his butt off for a few minutes then said SOLD!!!!
    Here they are guys!!!
Enjoy!!! Cause it's a true story!

How does one know if you are looking at an authentic original sign or a recently made reproduction? Are there any special markings to look for?

Those look real to me. That porcelain finish would be very hard to duplicate. The round one has a chip in it, which looks the same as other chipped signs I've seen.

The early Authorized Service sign has to be the nicest one I've ever seen. Even at $1200, I think you could sell them both and at least double your money.

                  Thanks for the replies!
                  Yes they are definately real!
The sign is marked by the maker! Here is a closeup!

And the 4 for diameter is in it's original hanging bracket....
Lastly I found the sign in the priceguide from 2005! Books 6,000

I agree this is the nicest one I've EVER seen also. There is one on ebay for 4500 with bullet holes!
It's large at 4 foot wide X 30 inches tall
                  Thanks Again!!!
