No wonder she doesn't post as much as husband of Lark8girl does! That car looks so good in person, it's hard to show in a picture any better, but you did. That's a very nice signature pic. Take a long drive in that to Ohio any time. [8D]

I recall Carroll Studebaker building a black Lark like that with the continental kit back in the eighties at his Brookville, Ohio premises. Could it be the same car ??

We have heard a couple of stories regarding this cars past.

The man we bought if from in Indiana said it was built for the Boston Auto show and afterward was shipped back to South Bend and purchased by Sherwood Eggbert's secretary. She sold the car in 1963 and is has been owned by Studebaker members since then. Build date 6/10/60 seems too late in the year for an auto show , but the car was shipped to Boston MA.per the production order.

Another story stated it was in Washington DC area and owned by a former Navy man who had a Submarine Periscope mounted in the bathroom and viewed from Sitting on his toilet.
( I am not making this one up! )

The most credible story was from a member who said two older women in Vermont were orginal owners of the car , and did not drive it much.
The member stated he attatched the Lark VIII letters onto the continental wheel kit when he installed it.

So does which story do you like, anyone know for sure.

I met Sherwood Egbert's secretary in 1993 at the Avanti 30th Anniversary meet. Her name was Martha Fleener. Unfortunately she passed a few years ago. Her husband was Ron Fleener who was the President of Mercedes Benz of North America, a subsidiary of Studebaker at the time.

Checked out my Studebaker telephone directory for 1959 & found Mr Fleener listed as President of Mercedes Benz Inc in department 42.
