    1955 president with engine block # RI952 Can anyone tell me in forum land is this the orignal engine?

    Studebaker used an I for a 1. This would make the number R1952. That number would be for an Avanti R1 engine. My guess is that your number is P1952 which would be a 1955 President 259 V8. That tells you that it is a correct engine for the car. To find out if it is the original engine, you will need to order the car's build sheet from the SNM.
