  • 1958 Packard Engine

Just got a 1958 Packard Engine. The numbers are L946. Just checking to see if anyone would be interested in a complete engine for a Studebaker Packard. I will try to get pictures of it tomorrow, if it is not raining, and will post here. I'm in Springfield MO, and it would be pickup only. It appears to be complete with carb. intake,. I will do more checking on it tomorrow if weather permits. If you are interested about the engine, let me know. Dusty

Dusty, it would help to know where you and the engine are.

Dusty, are you sure that you are in Springfield Missouri? Is this the same Springfield Missouri that's in the United States? lol

That looks an awful lot like a Stude 259 4 Barrel. It came out of a 58 Packard?

If that 4bbl air cleaner isn't rotted thru on the bottom, THAT'S a score in itself![]

Is that air cleaner standard on Packards?
I have one on my Gt Hawk and had never seen one on any other Studebaker until this post. I assumed it was off some other vehicle.

Yes, that appears to be a proper 1958 Packard sedan, hardtop and wagon air cleaner.

Yes that's right, it has the extra silencer chamber to give the "man who owns one" his quiet Packard ride!

warrlaw1: Of course a '58 Packard 289 4 Barrel engine, would look like a 259 Commander/Lark, because there is NO physical difference! [:0]

I put a bar on the back of the engine at the crank shaft bolts, and it did turn over. If anyone is interested in this engine, you can contact me off of this site. Or I will be parting/scraping it out in a few days. Dusty
