  • 64 DAYTONA

Hi I'm new to the site and have a couple of questions. First I have a 64 Daytona with a v8 not sure of the size. I bought it as a project for my oldest daughter and she loved it.Now she wants something else if anyone would be interested in it I have 600.00 in it. It still need work but a good project. Thanks

Just tell us the numbers and letters that are STAMPED into the machined flat pad at the top, driver's front corner of the block, next to the oil filler pipe (delete) BLOCK-OFF plate.

Basically, if it starts with a "V" it is a 259, and with a "P" it's a 289, they are both the same except the Pistons and Crankshaft. [^]

What body type is your '64 Daytona?
    4 dr. Sedan
    4 Dr. Wagonaire
    Convertible
    2 Dr. Hardtop?

Thanks guys It is a 4 dr there is a 64v y8 556 on the firewall and I will have to double check on the stamped numbers. I got it to turn over last month but I think a relay is bad? It needs brakes, water pump, front pans. I rebuilt the radiator, starter, new hoses, new gas line and 4 new tires.

Which Garland is it? There is one by Texarkana and another down by Dallas. I am interested if it's not already too late.

No relays in the starting circuit, it could be the Neutral switch, wiggle the shift lever and or use Neutral instead of Park.

Other possibilities if there is no sound at all when turning the key, are: the Ignition Switch or Solenoid.
