My new toy showed up today . ' 64 Daytona , slightly modified. Has wrong color on some under hood things , wider rims ( that is good ) , dual MC on the brakes , which is ok too . Got a few things I'll have to attend too but I think its going to be a very good driver :D Came outa BC but is back home in Ontario where it was built ;)
Spring is going to be along ways away I think :(

A 1964 Daytona should have a dual master cylinder, unless it is equipped with factory disc brakes.

Because the hydrovac brake booster can only handle a single MC.

Well now this is interesting....mine has the power disc brake with hydrovac booster and has a late model dula MC on it . The brakes work fine[:I] It also has an after market proportioning valve on it , maybe thats the difference from modern to old technology.

If you have an original type hydravac, my guess is that you are only boosting the front brakes.

Stock Stude discs didn't use a proportioning valve or residual check valves.

Have the front discs been changed to non Stude discs?

BTW, I lusted after that car and thought his BIN on eBay was quite reasonable. It is a beauty [:p]

Dick the front brakes are original stude disc. Ya I see you live very close to where that car was. I also was surprised it didn't go for his BIN . I waited till it was over and we emailed back and forth for a month . He even sent me a video of the car....that sold me . I bought it for a lot less then he wanted too :D

I've heard that car was in the Northwest Overdrive last year and WAS driven quite a bit...comfortably and successfully. I've also heard the builder was a pretty durn good wrench. They must work OK. I guess I'd be figurin' out what was done and why for my own piece of mind, and maybe trying some hard stops (with plenty of wide open space...just to be sure).

I have a '64 cruiser that has the single mc with the booster and disc brakes. What dual master cylinder can i buy that will bolt up to the booster? Anyone have a part number? Can i get it from napa, or some regular auto parts store? Any part number for the divider valve? thanks

I'd take it to a gravel road, get going 40 mph or so and stomp on the brakes. When the car stops, put it in park and get out and look to see if all the wheels locked up. Also braking quickly but not locking them on gravel will tell you if the rear brakes are braking too much.
