Serial number is just that, no hidden meaning. The number built that year from the starting serial number. On the serial number tag, there may be lots of information about the truck.

Actually the M series truck serial numbers were assigned sequentially with no "reset" for each model year. Thus you need to know the block of numbers assigned to each year to identify in what model year it falls.
