Interesting article, here's the direct link: http://money.cnn.com/2009/10/30/smal...ion=2009103017
Looks like the story of the Packard complex parallels that of the Studebaker complex. Its sad to see these buildings neglected and fall apart. Its also similar to the many dairy farms around my area that had the big red dairy barns. A few farmers maintained the roofs of the barns which kept them in very good shape, however many farmers neglected the roofs which led to structural rotting and the barns eventually fell in. Due to a lack of profit, most dairy farms are just a memory now just like the Land-O-Lakes creamery which was recently demolished in Milaca that stood for over 100 years.

You know, I've heard several times about the Packard Farm. I'd love to get some of those Packard plants. Do you grow them from seeds or do you take cuttings from plants?

Jim, you need a special tool to take clippings from the plants, a Packard Clipper is the only thing that will cut through. Just be sure its on the Ultramatic setting for smooth operation. [B)]

There's a link on that page posted by a visitor: www.theghostofhenryford.com - photos of Ford's Atlanta plant before it was sold for scrap last year. Terribly saddening.

Whats amazing about the old Packard Plant is that theres a 3.5 million sq foot bldg. thats deteriorated over the past 50 yrs and the city allowed it.
