I was at a stoplight on the way to work in the lark this morning. This lady pulls up in a Hyundai and rolls down her window. She said she loved seeing the car out on the road. She then told me she worked for Studebaker and was responsible to receiving the teletypes at the factory for dealer accessory orders. She said she worked on the sixth floor in the admin building. 1959 was her first year working. Just goes to show you never know who your gonna run across.

Did you get her name? You may want to speak to her again for more details, she may even have some Studebaker soueveniers to show you from her time there...maybe some photographs. Its indeed rare these days to speak to a former employee. Nothing is better than speaking to someone with a first hand account!

Interesting story! Can you confirm which floor she worked on? The Admin Building has only four floors. It would have been a rather exciting time period for her to have been working there in any case.
She would have been right in the middle of Harold Churchill getting axed, and being replaced by Sherwood Egbert. In addition, she would have had to put up with some loud construction all around her when the Admin Building got extensively renovated inside right after Sherwood Egbert got into office.

About two years ago I was at a wedding of a friend of my wife, (they wanted me to be an usher) I drove my lark that day, and the grandfather of the bride made his way toward me right as the first guests were filing in. He asked me "Is that your Lark out there?" I told him "Yes, you like it?" He then told me that he had worked for a Studebaker dealership for many years and always loved it when he saw one of them still on the road, which wasn't that often these days. He seemed more exited at that than the fact that his grandaughter was getting married! He wanted to talk more, but did not have the time. we did have the chance to visit for a few minutes at the reception, not long enought for me, but what do you do? Very nice guy.
