  • Help Mr 30' s Studebaker

I've yet to find an answer to a question I've been asking for quite some time. I have a 34 dictator and I have two tail lights for it but they are different, one is cast pot metal and the other is sheet metal.Which is for what models.

Warren, please keep in mind that for every pre-war Studebaker owner, there are probably 500 to 800 post-war Studebaker owners many with from three to a hundred or two cars, so your chances of finding Knowledgeable computer literate pre-war owners here is pretty slim! [:0] My guess is that most do not own a computer.

A question in Turning Wheels with photos would sure help.

Hi, Warren! Good 2-c-u here! I understand that the stamped steel ones are for '35's...

Standard equipment for the '34 Dictator was a left side tail light only. The right side tail light was an option. Without a photo I would have no way of knowing whether the optional light your car has is a Studebaker or aftermarket or off another car. If you need to know email be thru this site or post a photo of your right side light.

                  Richard,

The tail lights are not mounted on the car. They came with the car when I bought it,and I'm trying to figure out which is correct.I'm working out of town right now so I can't take any pictures. Just killing time in the blue shadows! Thank Warren

Here is what your taillights should look like. They were the same for all 1934 and 1935 models and body styles. This photos happens to be of a Land Cruiser that was used by the Elks Club in their 1934 publicity tour. Your car would not have had the same body contour (unless it was a Land Cruiser which is doubtful). However the tailights are the same.

My 1934 Dictator was completely original, it had only one sheet metal tail light.

I have never seen a 1934-35 with a cast base. I would need to see the photos before I become a believer.
