Dear friends of my mom and dad, Lionel and Elaine Stone,
Dad arrived in Bellingham, Washington a couple of weeks ago to begin his rehabilitation. When people ask us what shape Dad is in, I don't know how many of you realize how serious his accident and injuries were. We are lucky to still have him with us as the accident totaled the truck and as most of you know, my mom Elaine passed away.
For now, Dad is not walking or able to bear weight at all on his lower limbs as he was literally in bed for over 2-months. The good news is that he is clear headed (the joke is "as he ever was") and has a memory like an elephant. He had fractured his left collar bone and dislocated his left shoulder, as well as broke many ribs, so that side is very stiff. He is working hard every day with his therapists to regain his range of motion since his right side was already weak. He has started to stand with assistance and makes great progress every week that he has been here.
I am glad he is here with me and my family so we can keep him company and in good spirits. My husband Dave and son Gordon (who is almost 17) visit him regularly and we spend a lot of our time talking about the business and the future.
Lionel is in the process of organizing his parts inventory which will be liquidated to a select group of Studebaker parts vendors. We will keep you informed when these transactions have been completed so you will have access to Studebaker parts.
Thanks for your well wishes. I will pass them on to Dad. You can look to the Studebaker forum for more information as it becomes available.
