Reversing hood opening on a C/K Studebaker

Someone earlier asked about this subject and I can't find it so I'm going to post some pictures of John Martin's Gold Dust 1953 Studebaker. This post will have several pictures of the hood hinge set up. John has a release under the front bumber. He pulls the hood forward about an inch and then raises the hood.

Jerry Forrester (Forrester's Chrome For the Street) can fill you in on all the details for a pretty easy install using off the shelf boneyard parts (GM)...

That hinge setup reminds me of mid 80's Buick.

It reminds me of the Saab 96 I used to drive. It would pop up like a regular hood but then you would have to slide it forward and tilt it up.

I used to go to the full service pumps at the gas station and have the attendant check my oil just to mess with them. I would let them struggle with it for a few minutes and then show them how it's done.

Full service pumps... Is that dating my story?

Being I look for the [}] in the details, what does the area where the hinges USED to be........look like now?
It's an area I've given some mental attention.

Fenders meet firewall
Ugly rubber gasket
Reverse hood, now a cavernous useless hole.
Weld a patch to cover? and hope the fenders never have to come off. [:0]

Both are pretty cool.[8D]

EDIT: I believe I see it (pic) in another post. New inner fenders.

Not an easy job.
