  • 57' Super Charger Set Up

Does anybody want to guess what this is worth? It was on ebay, and didn't hit the reserve. i am thinking about buying it for Bud my 57 1/2 ton bored V8 5spd overdrive and 4:10 TT. The guy said his reserve is $2000.00 and that seemed HIGH for a Core Charger (he said it turned but not very willing). It is complete though all but a bracket that mount the aircleaner to I think the valve cover. That could likely be made easily.

I have seen the mounting kits sell for over $1000.00, Blower core $500.00, rebuilt $1000.00!

I do not think anyone who has saved and stored one for 30-40 years is going to let it go for less.

What all comes in a mounting kit?

What does it cost to rebuild a blower?

Just what you see there, plus a Supercharger Fuel Pump and the tiny drain line to the bottom of the oil pan that drips to the ground from the air box. Also you need the pressure equalizer line from the S/C to the fuel pump.

You will need a 3/8" fuel line to replace your 5/16" and the best fuel line setups are like the '63 R2 also with a 5/16" return to the tank.

Not sure if this is the same on, but I saw a '57 GH supercharger setup on CL several months ago. I believe it was in the South Jersey area and they wanted $2K for it. Sorry I no longer have the contact info, but seem to recall the guy owned some type of auto related business.

If you're close to Pittsburgh, PA area I'll sell the an operating 57 superchager system off my 62 Hawk. You can come and hear it run and take it off the car. I also have second core set up with out the air cleaner available.

That early set up is missing parts, the oil filter base and lines, also the oil filler tube both are getting hard to find...Bob

The $500-750 days were in the recent past when CASOs were the only ones interested in the old VS57s. Now that ratrodders have discovered them, the prices have doubled and tripled.

Just last evening a ratrodder called me for info about a VS57 he was given in trade for a flathead Lincoln V8 engine. The Lincoln guy built a faux Mexican Road Race car and runs it annually with a VS57 on it and has a half-dozen spare VS57s.
