Beautiful "61" I wish my Black "60" looked as good. Mine is almost all original paint. I have Wire wheels that are from a "55" Chrysler 300 (Kelsey Hayes)I'm told. Wire wheels compliment both of our cars I believe. Did you have yours re-plated or anything? Mine are showing signs of age as expected and I have thought about doing something with them. Perhaps stripped and powder coated. I'm told to re-chrome is very expensive and means completely disassembling the entire wheel. Supposedly that much effort is not required when they are powder coated and that certainly would cut down on labor cost. I've been told that they have refined the powder coating process to where most people would think it's chrome. Do you have any thoughts on that? Another interesting observation is that I have a (60 Hawk) GA tag on mine.
Mine is pretty stock as well except for the engine. It has number matching 289, but is bored 60k over with dish low compression pistons. Crank 10k under with all heavy duty bearings etc. Solid lifters. R-1 Avanti ground cam. 500 CFM Edelbrock carb. Hot coil. Petronix Ignitor ignition. Flight -O - Matic tranny. TT rear end. 3.07 ratio. Not a tire burner off the line and I have never reached top end, anything over 100 scares me at my age.

Just the stance, I love that stance, especially with the wire wheels.[8D]

I remember it at Charlotte. Isn't that where the guy that was restoring it brought it unfinished and was wondering/complaining why people weren't volunteering to help finish the car that he was paid to restore before that?

Sorry! I guess that this means that there was another 1961 Hawk there that was restored in NC.
