  • Hurst/Olds,ShelbyMust.,Offy/Stude=Who knows?

In 1953 Offenhauser and Studebaker connected to build
what I thought was only one performance car. Later I
found out there was more than one. These cars were built
with reworked, or different heads, Offy intake, Stromberg
4 barrel, dual exhaust, and Mallory ignition. One was
toured around the country to Studebaker dealers. I learned
yesterday, there was another. I had a long conversation
with a local (Montgomery Alabama) former Dealer, and his Dad
before him. I am working to get pictures of Dealership. He
remembers at least two of the modified cars and possibly more.
Does anyone have any info on these cars?

There was one article in the Los Angeles Herald & Express on
July 14th 1953, Showing the first car, which was a Coral red
and Ivory mist, Starliner. Shown in the picture is Fred Offenhauser
Clyde G. Riley, regional manager of Studebaker's southern California
-Arizona zone. Anyone recognize the Studebaker manager? The manifold
used was the 2262. The heads had a number stamped on the end. Rumor
has it that they were not really ported, relieved, but actually the
      55 prototype?
