This definitely got me thinking about studebakers but I would never had put Avanti and laser hair removal together.
This made me curious as to the real definition of the word AVANTI. How did Studebaker come to choose this name? Of course I did the usual Google research and:
Encylopedia Britannica definition #1:
Kingdom of ancient India, in the territory of present Madhya Pradesh state. The area was for a time part of the historic province of Malwa. About 600 BC the Avanti capital was Mahismati. The kingdom was on the overland trade routes between northern and southern India.
Websters Dictionary Online:
Italian for ahead or forward
Seems like the word "Avanti" may have went the way of the word "Xerox" which everyone uses to describe a paper copy, when in fact it is a registered trademark.
I've noticed the name Avanti used for other things such as a line of appliances, bicycles, restaurants, even a chamber orchestra.
I think I might lean more toward the Italian definition but does anybody else have thoughts on this?
(BTW I took this picture early morning before daylight of a digital sign North of Philadelphia, PA. I cropped the photo to exclude their phone number.)
