Here is a simple connection between Studebaker and Toyota, albeit in name only.
In the early fifties, Studebaker's extended wheelbase luxury sedans were named the Land Cruiser. After Studebaker dropped this model, Toyota later picked up the name for their version of the 'Land Rover'.
People often comment on my car saying, 'I thought Land Cruisers were made by Toyota.'
Despite the name, I doubt anyone would describe the ride in one of those rugged old Toyota 4x4 vehicles as a 'cruise'.
Cheers,
Jim
