Is it possible that no one has mentioned this year's Pure Stock Muscle Car Drag Races yet, or am I just an over-anxious rookie too excited about going and just haven't noticed? (Did I mention I'm going and I'm really looking forward to it? But the really big deal is that the Rabid Snail is going too )

OK, everybody, The 2009 Pure Stock Muscle Car Drag Race will be held September 18 and 19, 2009 at The Mid-Michigan Motorplex, northeast of Stanton MI.

So far, tentative participants and Studebaker weapons of choce include:

Jim McCaun, above: 1963 R2 Avanti

Richard Poe: 1963 Lark R1/4-speed Custom 2-door

Chuck & [son] John Kern: 1963 R2 Avanti

Ted Harbit: 1963 Lark R2/4-speed Custom 2-door (The Stude Tomato)

Peter Sant: 1963 R2 Avanti

Rich Meadows: 1964 Jet Green Challenger 2-door: R4/4speed (yes; new this year; an R4 for the first time!)

Probably, but unconfirmed:

John Raab: 1963 R1/HD Flightomatic Lark Regal 2-door.

Doug Tjapkes: 1963 R2/Powershift Lark Regal 2-door.

We'll post others if we hear from them.

Remember:
Practice and grudge-racing all day Friday; strip opens at 9:00 AM.
Practice and 2-out-of-3 formal shootouts Saturday, strip opens at 8:00 AM.

I blew my budget on attending last year and what happened.... the thing got rained out. Oh well at least I got to see the "Plain Brown Wrapper"make its last runs during test and tune night. You all have a good time and may the Studebakers prevail!
