  • 66 Cruiser, not parted, going to New Zealand

Remember when I was trying to sell the 66 cruiser with perfect floors? well I came to a point that I was just going to re do the car and run my 350 hp 327 with duel 4's and a 4 speed in it, but like always just when you set your mind to something some one comes along and changes things this time it is Geo. Paniflow from New Zealand he remembered seeing the past add and e-mailed me about it, we have done lots of business together in the past, so a deal was made and it will be filled with parts and shipped to New Zealand, it will be the only 66 cruiser there, going with it is the original 283 engine and a rebuilt 283 with about 50,000 miles bucket seats for a 66 .so all's well that end well. .Bob

Sounds like a "WIN WIN" for you, the new owner, and the forum! I vaguely remember someone threatening to leave the forum because you had mentioned parting the car out. Now that the car is getting a new lease on life...we have one less reason to engage in some (often entertaining) petty bickering!

Is the correct term "Baited" or "Beer Battered?"

Sorry 55 coupe, the only extra I had is going with the car, I did find a set of a 2 door but some one was asking about one and I can't think who, so if you are out there get back to me on the 66 2 door panels..Bob

<s>BAITED, BATED</s>...THANX for the correction...it is comforting to know that the petty bickering is so easy to access. If we all spelled by phonics, then in certain parts of the northeast, a car would be spelled "cah"...Cuba would be spelled "Cuber", etc., etc... and here...hog would be "hawg", tire would be "tar." It is truly a wonderful country!

The 1966 Daytona on eBay in California needs those two door panels.

I am glad that the Cruiser is being saved. On the other hand, I had no problem with it going to either fate. When you first offered it, there were no takers, just criticism.

I think the one who was most upset was in Austrailia, wasn,t he? Maybe this will make him feel better. He and the car will be neighbors. I have the remnants of a 66 Commander, but I just cut the top off to repair a 65 Daytona. NT

Correct, Neil. And I understand him; I frequently feel the same about great old cars of any make being scrapped- especially rust-free ones. But I have learned to get over it. All I can do is overpay to save them, and that's just what I do- as often as I am able.

                          Here's the thread from John:

Good job, Bob. You've found many homes for your finds. Now that the '66 is sold, how about someone just making an offer on this one:

The owner, Dale Richmond, lives near me and is having severe physical issues and can't drive this car right now. I'm trying to get this car driven to the Summit Meet by a neighbor. It would make a terrific raffle car, or a car for instant driving fun. It drives like a new car and has new brakes and power steering hoses. Dale needs to sell this car for this chapter in his life. You will not be let down if you love these Hamilton built cars. It was previously owned by Stu Chapman. I've discussed with Dale what a reasonable price should be and he's open to serious offers. Email for a contact number.
