  • 289 Stude engine id

    I found a Stude 289 V/8 engine (i think it's a 289)
If someone could tell me what year it is I'd greatly appreciate it..
    P44637
It has 2 bolt valve covers and a remote type oil filter with a 4 bolt thermostat housing.
    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

57 Pres that someone change valve covers on.

      Here's the table...

      1957 289

Should have 4 bolt valve covers, but that's an easy switch either way.

All which is conclusively known from the engine serial number is the engine block was originally built as a 289" and installed in a '57 President. Since the heads have been changed, what crankshaft and pistons are inside is unknown. More than one 289" block has become a 259" and a couple even became 224" and 232". Only way to know is to look inside.
