  • Hooter's stop in CeRap- NEVER MIND

Being both the Hooter's restaurants have closed here I always make it a point to hit one whenever possible on the road- still THE BEST wings you can get[]

Monday's the welcome dinner, Wednesday's the Truck Farmer's, and I'll be headed home Thurs. afternoon... so I'm looking to make a stop at the local Hooter's Tues. night. Anyone else want in?? I did post this on the CeRap forum, but that's where posts go to hide

Note to the uninitiated: Hooter's is NOT a strip club, porn house, or brothel- it's a decent chain restaurant with excellent food. The waitresses are dressed scantily, but IMO not offensively. It's a guy-type sports place with TVs all over playing all types of sports. So, don't be afraid to join us and see why I rave about their wings- or tell me they stink and I'm crazy

Edited to add: Hooters caters to families as well- ladies and children are welcome!

Seriously- it's just an excuse for another get-together. Come on down! I'll post the address and details before the end of the week; plus my cell # is 315-440-7351.

Hope we can round up a posse!

Bob - If there isn't anything on the Meet schedule for Tuesday evening, I don't see any reason not to make it.

Tuesday night shows a Social Hour prior to the SDC Membership Meeting from 6-7PM, followed by the Membership Meeting from 7-8:30. I thought we'd go over directly after that- there are no official activites beyond the meeting. There are a couple pretty near the Meet. Seems just about right to me

I've got your cell # in my phone too, Phil.

          Hey, Bams

I agree with your assessment of Hooters.

Good food, especially the tasty Wings. Easy on the eye young women, too. Truly an American icon. Hope they don't all close, before I get clearance to get out and about.

Thanks for your kind words and prayers for me. I'm a tough old (will be 70 on my birthday in October) bird and am still kickin' and enjoying my on-line visits to Truck Talk and SDC Forum.

It was an unexpected pleasure to have lunch in Lancaster with you and Evin (spelling?)

I hope you and all my other Studebaker friends that can attend Cedar Rapids meet have the best ever. I definitely plan to be at Phoenix in 2010.

          Regards

Bams , you need to go to the Anchor Bar in Buffalo for wings
( there must be something else drawing you to Hooters )

I'll have to tell you one of my Hooter's stories sometime.
(I'll drink at Hooter's but won't eat there)

I agree with you on this one, still make my wings based on recipe's from a Jeff Smith cooking show that was filmed in Buffalo. (wow where did time go that was in the 70's)nothing Hooters puts out(say wings)comes close.

But the other draw ain't bad and they do serve ice tea.

I know, they say the Anchor is where the whole "chicken wing" phenomenon started! Only 4 hrs. away, too...

I wholeheartedly agree. Not sure I would even drink there.
I ate there one time, and I guarantee you that will be the last time.

That sounds good, Bob 2R5! Maybe on one of my road trips[^]

Along those lines, I went to the original Hooters in Clearwater, FL a number of years back. Having already been regulars for a few years at our local branch, we really looked forward to going to the Home Base, the Mother Store, the Place Where It All Started[8D] We were pretty disappointed- it was seedier than any other we'd seen, and the wings weren't even as good as our hometown store[|)] We had a good laugh and told the manager, who did a pretty good job acting surprised[)]

My brother holds the lead over me- I've only eaten in 16 different Hooters, while he has eaten in 23 1/2 (the half is because I brought him wings from York, but he's never been there).

So next week I'll move up to 17; I see CeRap has more than one- maybe I'll hit another for lunch one day and make it 18!
