  • R2 Lark Scarcity???

A number matching factory R2 should bring almost double what a standard Lark would bring. Even a rust bucket should be worth 5K if complete. I bought this one three years ago spent 10K on the restoration, and it sold for a bit over 25K.

    Almost done:

Post the VIN and I can tell you if it's a real R2. BTW, they built one R3, Nelson Bove owns it.

    R2 Lark Scarcity???

Just stumbled across a supercharged R series Lark that has been sitting in a garage for years (15 ish) and was wondering how rare are these cars? It seems to be in pretty decent shape and I know the R Larks were the high performance models. Any advice or information on this car would help. What should I expect to pay for this car in comparison to a standard Lark in the same condition? Once again, any info would help.
    Tx Dan
p.s. did they make such a thing as an R3 Lark?

Dan; many things enter into the answer to your question.
      (1) Is it a 2dr.Hardtop, 2dr.(post)Sedan, 4dr.Sedan, Wagon, Convert?
      (2) Is it a '63 with round tail lights? Or '64 with W/rectangle?
      (3) Is it a 4 speed floor shift? Coluum Auto? Floor Shift Auto?
      (4) What is the eng. serial # from driver's side front corner, top of eng. STAMPED IN, not raised.
      (5) Any way to tell if it was Paxton Supercharged? It should have chrome valve covers.
      (6) Condition of Int. Condition of body & paint? Color?

It is highly impossible that it is a factory R3 Lark, one '64 was built and we know where it is. It was a bored out 289 to 304 c.i. with special heads, carb. air box and Paxton Supercharger.

It is like any 44 yr. old car, after $20,000.00 of work it MIGHT be worth that much! [:0] As is, it depends on it's CONDITION. Like they say in Real Estate: location, location, location!
Hope this helps, let us know the above and there are many of us who can come closer, thanks for asking!

If you just farm out the paint and do the rest yourself it can be done for half of that 20K. BTW, the only body style that seems to bring lower money is the 4 doors, even 2 door sedans bring hardtop money lately and I think a R2 wagon would go nuts.

Yeah, but an R2 4 door would be the $&!+~ especially if it was a Cruiser!!!! [:0] [^] That's just MY opinion, though~ I don't care about what the 'market' says...

If it's a '63, they made 272 non package R2 Larks and 53 package cars (Feb '99 TW). If it's a '64 I'll have to go dig out the Feb '93 issue.

To Dan C.- If this car is for sale, I for one would be seriously interested; and will pay a more than fair price.

                The R2 Lark numbers are
                Red 1963 Lark R2 2-Door post automatic

                63V-F4 (firewall)
                235

                63V 2757 (drivers door)

Now, what exactly is the story of what it is etc?

63V 2757 is a real deal, factory R2, Flight-0-matic, Regal 2 door Regal red. A real money car, even with the weaker Flight-0-matic.

The serial number given, 63V-2757, is for a factory R2 Lark.

                    -R2
-Regal 2-door sedan (this would agree with the "F4" on the cowl tag
                    -regular, non heavy duty flightomatic
                    -bench seat
                    -disc brakes
                    -twin trac
                    -heavy duty springs and shocks
                    -Regal Red paint
                    -should have engine #JTS1007

Hope this helps - it sounds like it could be a nice car.
