Several years ago my wife and I bought this Studebaker toy truck with an elephant sitting on the bed. He is missing his ears and is holding on to a drum stick to beat on a drum. The drum is missing as you can see. This became one of our favorite toy Studebakers. We have looked for another one for years. We have asked other toy collectors if they have ever seen one and the answer is always no.

Yesterday in an an antique store less than a mile from my home we found this:

    Pretty cool!

That's cool! I take it the elephant plays the drum as the truck rolls?[:0]

Yes he beats on the drum and his head bobs up and down.
Pretty cool for an 89 cent toy.

That is neat and a new one on me. I wonder if "toyman" has one.

Gary: NO....I have not found one yet. I guess I haven't spent much time looking. Jim G. considers this type toy a Stude but I have seen them with FORD and CHEVROLET on the tab on the doors, all with the same grille and cab. I have several of them as I couldn't resist the temptation. Like I've said several times, if you combined several collections from just a few of us 'nuts', what a collection that would be. It seems like all of us 'serious' nuts have something the rest do not, and we would 'kill' for (figuratively). NICE find Gary!

I have several of that style of cab, but none with an elephant.

Gary: There were several 'circus' trucks in this style. There was a merry-go-round truck, a 'ferris wheel' truck, and a 'caged lion' truck.

                  Bruce,
We have several of the cicus trucks in the collection. They are my wifes favorite ones. She is hard to stop from buying a circus truck whenever we find one.
I can post pictures next weekend.

Gary, a very nice and rare Studebaker toy. Since you have a photo of the Elephant complete with drum and ears . I know a man who could reproduce your missing parts/
