  • Rear axle car vs. truck

I'd never pulled the axle shafts on my 62 T-Cab and was told by the PO it had a 44 TT. I got a pair of Timken 40769S inner seals and began, thinking my truck's 44 would be the same as my '63 Lark's and the UTE's old '53 44 that's now in my '60 Lark. Right away I noticed they were too small and taking the National number down to NAPA, I got a pair of SKF 13862 seals that were just over $15 each!

Also I have a pair of outer seals coming tomorrow to go within a cone shaped gizmo. Could I have a Dana 60 or was this different style SOP for the time? Thanks!

Your numbers are correct. The axles on the 44 truck are larger diameter than the cars.
