Looking for S IL Bonneville Racer

My friendly Fed Ex guy looked in on me today and told me he had run across a Bonneville racer south of Harrisburg IL on a delivery. There was evidently a plaque and several framed news stories on his shop wall and he said he was a member of an Avanti record holding team several years ago. He moved to the Harrisburg area from parts north. Anybody know of him?
