I decided to sell the spare factory AC under dash unit I have. If interested here is my shameless promotion. These can hook up to a factory or Vintage Air type setup:

Dan: I don't believe that's the original 64 Stude GT evaporator, although there is a basic resemblance. Dan

I do believe that is a Studebaker unit as it looks identical to the unit in my '62 GT with factory air. Perhaps they changed to the silver color with the "eyeball" vents for '63 and '64?

From what I can tell from the parts book it is correct for GT Hawks. There are slight variations in several I have seen, like the color of the vents, but it came out of a '63 Hawk. I believe dealers put in whatever was on the shelf at the time so there can be differences. There are actually two different types out there, one mostly for the Hawk and the other for the Lark, but I have seen both kinds in the other cars so who knows? I can tell you that the mounting screws on the Lark and Hawk are in slightly different locations but they can interchange easily

Allen: my evaporator is a 1560125, the same as yours, which is the correct original factory unit for 63 and 64 GT's. Tim, I think you are also correct; the other one may be a 1557231 which was used on 62 Studebakers. In 63 and 64, all Stude evaps used the rounded rather than the old flat vents on the front of the evaporator. Dan, as you stated, a dealer or someone else may have used the older unit he had to install AC on a newer car.
