What's the horse power of a '64 Daytona with a 259 V8 vs.a 289 V8? Thanks for the help!

two bbl, single exhaust 259- 180hp, w/four bbl and duals- 195hp. two bbl, single exhaust 289- 210 hp, w/four bbl and duals- 225hp.

Of course, no one has ever been able to explain why a 289/2bbl in a Hawk is rated at 210 HP with standard dual exhaust, but is still rated 210 HP in a base 289 Lark with 2bbl and single pipe...[:0] BP

I believe the HP ratings then were GROSS HP. At the flywheel. No exhaust system, no accessories.

To compare with today's HP ratings, multiply by about .70-.75
