It took awhile, but after years of neglect (none of which was really her fault), I decided to show some smidgen of compassion to Sunshine. She's been nagging at my conscience for some time now. She heard of barnlark's red head becoming a cover girl, and things like that just do not go unnoticed if you know what I mean.

A fair number of fellow Studenut visitors to the StudeFarm have inquired if she was available for adoption. I'm sure they questioned my sanity after seeing the poor thing languish in the elements - looking thoroughly UN-ladylike and unloved. And as strange as it may sound, unloved wasn't far from the truth. As I've said, it really wasn't HER fault that I'd grown disenchanted with her. It was due to forces beyond her control that I'd left her to collect dirt and harbor spiders.

I've tried in recent years, to convince the wife to let me sell Sunshine (you'd think one gal would be all to ready to dispatch any competition!), but she flatly said "NO!". OK, let 'er sit.

As I said tho - between the wife's devotion to Sunshine, and Sunshine's own nagging at being shunned, I finally decided to see if I could institute some self-administered counseling.
Yesterday, without too much coaxing, she started up and pulled herself into the back yard. I'm certain she was in shock at that development. Then I broke out a bucket of sudsy water, a sponge, a brush and a hose. When the suds first hit her hood you could hear: "Wha??? Huh??? Wha-ah???"
It took some doin', but eventually she put on a gleam in the evening sun. Then - just to put icing on her cake - I got the camera and took her photo. Hey, there's nothing does a gal's ego some good but to have a guy ask her for her picture!
I wasn't gonna make a committment I might not be able to keep, but I did hint that she might go for a spin on July 4th. There's been many a July 4th that she's carried us to watch local fireworks displays. What I didn't tell her about was that it would also be "Drive Your Studebaker Day" that day. In case I'm not able to take her out then, I don't want depression to set in as it would if she knew it was an extra special 4th.[:I]

Very cool, Bob! I hope she makes it out on the 4th. Once a beauty queen, always a beauty queen :)

Boy I sure was hopeing that she would get a good Bath and a man-i-cure (Sorry couldn't help myself). See when I saw Daisy I thought of poor ol Sunshine sittin there just wanting to come out into the light. If I didn't buy her I was gonna let you have a crack at her thought they would go good together.

Not wishing to start a cat fight (and I tend to not give my cars a gender, or a name) but, my red head would actually be a black haired brunette dressed in a hussy red dress (with black and white leather unmentionables) if this scenario were to hold water. :D[:o)] Instead we will let Sunshine do just that..and have her day in the California sun in this thread. She looks pretty darn beautiful sitting there. [^][^][^] Is she siphoning gas out of the truck with that hose, btw? [8D]
