That looks pretty good, I sure think IMHO, he made a bad choice with a 396 "boat motor" instead of a nice little 327 or a 350 c.i. if he [u]HAD</u> to go with a bowtie.

The Trans should be good, with O.D. though.

I agree, if you are gonna take up the space and weight of a big block, might as well make it a BIG block. Small blocks that displacemnt or bigger are pretty common these days and weigh a lot less. Still a nice looking truck, maybe he used what he had.

Yea...that 396 is about the same size dimensionally and weighs about the same as a Stude V8. Only 100+ extra cubic inches and 100+ extra HP. Bad choice [)]

I see a hanging pedal. I wonder if there is a master cylinder crammed in there or if that is one of the u finish parts of this project.

Oh, good point! Where would one put that firewall-mounted brake booster for the Chevy frame? Then again, isn't that pedal normally hung off the steering column on a Chevy? So, it wouldn't be a streach to assume it came with it? Still, how would one rig the brakes? Hmmmm...[}]

Well, I went to see the ChevyBaker today. The fellow's done a great job on it. The only thing that gives away that anything has been done to it is the odd steeringwheel. That is, till one starts it! That 390 makes the old girl shake and shiver like a Harley Davidson with a throaty rumble that was the backdrop to many-a teenage boy's dreams. The fellow has installed a nine-inch Ford main, rear end, whateveritscalled (sorry I'm just not a gearhead[:I]). It has great pedal on the brakes. On or off. The mounting is well done for both the pedal and the booster. The steering is a Saginaw power unit out of a Chevy sedan, he couldn't remember which model. It's mounted in such a way that looks perfect. The part that needs finishing is the wiring. Basically, there isn't any. Also, the paint is really, really tired. I couldn't see any rust-through anywhere. None at all, really! It's kinda hard to believe the truck is a Studebaker (LOL)!
