  • Guess what I got for my B-day?

    Hi all,

I am pretty excited, so I had to post this here. Yesterday was my birthday, and my parents got me a brand new victor oxy-acedalene welding set, and gave me there miller arc welder. Not much holding up projects now, my mom is going to have to put a lock on the garage door to keep me away from it,lol.

Very cool! If I had one, I'd burn my garage down!

My birthday's coming up in a couple of weeks. When my sons ask me what I want for my birthday, I respond, a '51 StarLight coupe. They wish they could afford one for me, but I was just kidding (really?)

Man, some guys get all the good gifts! The best gift I got recently was the correct "V8" Trim for my lark for christmas...not bad, not bad.

No kidding Dylan, no fire!! I am so wise with age that I knew better than to weld in the shop, so I took my stuff outside. Dang, I'm smart. I caught the grass on fire...............

              Congrats Dylan

Sounds like you have great parents.

What you need now is a large multitype fire extinguisher for the garage. Wouldn't weld without one.

              Remember- practice, practice, practice.

                Excellent, Dylan! [8D]

Start welding...that's the best way to learn.

The Ute was made by Lee entirely with an Oxy Acetylene welder.

                Cool present!

Yup that's how I got started, the ole torch! after a little time passes you can start dropping hints about how great it would be to have a mig welder.then you'll be well rounded.

Sorry I haven't responded lately, I went to a state championships, then came home and just about had a heart attack when I heard of Mr.Harbits crash. Any way, thanks for the replies. I personally have only used a torch before, so the arc welder is going to be a new experiance. Mr.Steinkamp, I think your car is a pretty good example of how a gas welder is best for body work IF you do it right, its just that " if " I need to learn. And Mr.Zeiger, I agree, eventually a mig or tig would be a exellent companion for my new set of toys. BTW, I just been able to upgrade from a studebaker owner to a stude driver! Man that was alot of fun. Thanks again!
