So far, I found a 62 GT Hawk with 120K miles on it.. It needs interior and paint job redone.. Is $3500 a good deal? I appreatiate all the advice I can get from here.. Thanks in advance..

Stu, first off, welcome to the Forum! And to Studebakerdom. You won't find a better group of guys (and ladies) anywhere.

Do you have photos of the GT? That would probably assist in making a judgement on its valua and restorability. How are the floors and trunk? Frame? Is it running, and if so, how well does it drive? Any rust?

Here are some photos I'd receieved from the seller. I'm in the military and currently oversea right now. I'll be back in a few months... I'm searching right now, that way I can start my project as soon as I get back.. This car is in Fresno CA, and it runs according to the owner.

Sorry about the pictures. I just sign up for the photobucket. It didn't upload correctly.

Stu, When you load pictures from photobucket to the forum, be sure to change the IMG in caps, at the beginning and end of the link, to img in lower case letters. I don't know why it needs this to be done, but it does.

                  Stu,

                  Here is what Sals54 meant.

                  Change the uppercase IMG
                  [ IMG ]http:....jpg[ IMG ]

                  to lowercase img:
[ img ]htt.... .jpg[ img ]

I think you have to do the editing in the posting box on this forum. That's where I do it anyway.

Have the owner pull up the carpet, at the front pillar, send you some pics and look for rust. Also, the trunk area. Make sure of what you are getting. Also, the frame, behind the front spring pocket, look for cracks. Have him send you pics under the hood, and look at the body mounting points(down low, on the firewall), check them for rust. Just a few things that I have found.

Those look like the kind of pics you see on ebay designed to NOT show flaws.

IF.... what you can't see is as decent as what you CAN see (in these photos), then I'd say $3500 would be a good price. Like's been said here - photos that are as general as these can be deceiving. But while such deception could be deliberate, it could also be just a case of someone not knowing the photos could be more revealing.
Then there's also the fact that given geographical location - one locale's rust bucket is another locale's solid starting point!

Yeah - ask for some photos of the floorboards. Under the carpets and from under the car. The rear corners of the trunk floor too.

Bob I can't believe you don't know about this one or have seen it in the past, might even be a club member, and of course more pictures would help put a price on it engine, power steering, power brakes, 4 speed ? all the little things that add money to this car..Bob

Thank you all for the replies and BobGlasscock for fixing my pictures.. The car has power steering and power brake. No A/C with 3 speed tranny. The owner is not a club member. His name is Dan from Fresno.. He said the president of the Studebaker Club from Fresno looked at the car and wanted to buy it.. That's all the info I got from him so far..

Well, the president of the Stude club [of Fresno] is a regular participant on this forum. It should be just a matter of time before she picks up on this thread.[:X]
