I can't find the AC number for the rear wheel well stone guard Standard on Cruiser, if it is AC-2010 that would explain it.

It doesn't have Commander 2Dr. drip rail stainless mouldings does it?

There are very few exterior trim options you could add to a near top of the line Daytona. Rocker panel mouldings and the stone guards are the only rarely ordered optional items I can think of.

I read somewhere (I thought a reliable source) that the rocker panel mouldings were available on most Studebakers, but I have never seen more than 1 or 2 '59-'63 Larks with them, and no '64-'66's except of course Cruisers or any 109 in. wheelbase models or 2 Dr's., so if they exist they have to be extra super rare.

I am looking at the '64 Accessories brochure and it shows the Rear Fender Stone Shields as AC-3338. I've never seen a Daytona with rocker moldings. Mine has the stone shields, but they were added at some later point (I remember the car without them 20+ years ago).

I had my '64 Daytona HT out for a short drive today. Maybe it's me, but just driving it a bit seems to have improved the brake pulling to one side, and the way the AT shifts.

That's an oddity. Maybe check with Jim Pepper.

Jim's daughter's 1964 Daytona 4-door sedan was special-ordered and built with 1964 Cruiser side trim, of all things! Obviously, the moldings would be interchangeable since they are the same bodies. So I wonder if that 2010 code could denote that specialty.

Pure speculation on my part; I don't suggest that's what it is. But that's about all I can think of for such an odd number, especially if it does not have the two-letter prefix AC in front of it. BP

Where on the production order is this listed, toward the bottom or the top? Studebaker was conscientious in listing the accessory/option codes in numerical sequence. I have never seen this particular four digit number on a p.o.

I should have also inquired as to whether this was a South Bend '64 or a Canadian?

                Bob,

The production order for my '64 Canadian Daytona shows 2010 as "BUMPER GUARDS REAR'...2009 shows BUMPER GUARDS FRONT.

Doesnt show AC prefix, so maybe not the same?

Richard , this is a Cdn order , its not in numerical order and there are no AC in front of any of the numbers . There are 18 lines of options and this is 4th from the bottom , if that makes any difference .
Also Berry front bumper guards on this order is 2025....go figure !

Bob: If your '64 Daytona is Hamilton production, I'll bet Barry Leppan, here, has the correct answer. In that case, ignore my pontification about Jim Pepper's daughter's car.[8] BP

                        Bob,
Most of my options are in numerical order, but not all!

The most interesting thing to me is the description line of the car shows a roman numeral designation for the 8 cylinder 'option'?.

                        Reads " 4238 15 VJ8 DAYTONA 2-DR HARDTOP VIII"

                        Only in Canada eh?

What do your checker flag emblems on the 'C' pillar look like? Do they have a 'V8' incorporated in it? Or none at all?

Mine is Hamilton-built and also only has the checkered flags without the "8". Funny, I never noticed this at all (and I've been familiar with this car for probably thirty years or more) until I read it in the TW.

I also thought it was odd how on the production order, they were still calling it an "VIII". That designation was last seen actually ON the cars, in '61.
