  • How many do you have? (Or have you had?)

We were talking at lunch today and realized that in the past year we have owned a total of three Studebakers. To us, that seemed like a lot (considering we got our first one in January of '08), but we laughed when we realized how small of a number that would seem to many/most of those on the forum. We had to ask the question then: how many Studebakers do you own? Perhaps even more interesting would be the question, how many Studebakers have you owned? We're going to impose one guideline: the car had to be at least 30% intact to count!

I stopped counting Studebakers that I have owned at something over 50. Each time that I buy another, I still say "over 50." I have never owned more than ten cars at one time. My ownership of these Studebakers has been from a few months to more than nine years. I have nothing against those that hold onto cars for a long time. I just like to sample a lot of different cars. I have had a like number of non-Studebakers, including national show winners.

I know I've had 50 or more pass thru my hands since we lived where we are now. And that's not counting the one's I collaborated on with JDP. And the years prior to that, I surely had another 50 or so pass thru my hands. During the 70s, we could get Studes for free - alot of which we parted out. Heh - I've had friends remind me of particular Studes I had or that they bought from me that I'd totally forgotten about![|)]

Wow! If I had been guessing off the top of my head, I would have said 5 or 6. After taking time to count, I realize that I have had at least 12 pass through my hands. []
I had to edit my post. After some reflection I thought of 2 more! [:0] Now if you had asked me how many I actually made money on the list would have been much shorter. Maybe one. How many were worth the effort? Every one of them! [^]
