I've got two rather nice pieces of chromed plated pot metal trim that I can't ID.

    Casting numbers 3711158 and 3711156.

I thought they were for a GT Hawk because the cross section looks identical, but there are no GT Hawk pieces like these.

One is closed on both ends like it would go on a door. The other is open on both ends like mid stream on a rear quarter. They have quite an "arch" to them. They are both about 40" long.

    Any ideas?

Sure look like the Regal trim on the doors of my '53 but, if they don't fit the Ute they can't be.

Fir (and generally plenty dusty). That's basically the tree we have here.

My wife was getting an area rug for the living room a while back. The salesperson wanted to know what kind of floor it was going on. My wife said fir. The salesperson was shocked that we had FUR floors. [:0]

          (true story)

Back to the chrome...nothing like the Regal trim on an early C/K. Very uniform triangle cross section like a GT Hawk.

Is it possibly a couple of headliner boughs from a '60's area stude? I don't know exactly what those look like so I was thinking it was a possibility.

I'll take a stab, could the one with closed ends go on the bottom edge of a deck lid or tailgate and the other piece with open ends go below it and join to other trim? Just a wild guess!

You sure it's pot metal...and not redwood? Never saw fir take stain like that.

Can't believe someone hasn't had the answer to those, Dick. The curve is unique. My first guess was a tailgate, but if they're fifties, I'm unsure which one that I've seen them on, unless I took one off once. I'm surprised C&B hasn't piped up, he should know.

It's NOT 56 wagon tailgate trim.

Not the moulding that goes on the cowl below the windshield?

What are those round pegs sticking out? They do not resemble anything Studebaker used as fasteners, and anything that long would be stainless Steel. The numbers are not even close to anything Studebaker. Maybe these are GM or Chrysler?

Did they come with the UTE?
