61 Lark 2 door Hardtop

Going to look at a 61 Lark 2 door hardtop in the morning. 180,000 original miles red over white. V8 auto one owner. Son has now, been sitting in a garage for a few years. says all there runs. Says price non negoiable. How much is a fair price just so I know?

Hard to say from the data provided. I'm buying a decent 60 HT for $1600, but have spent over 5K on nice ones, and many are worth more.

i.e. A solid car needing paint and interior might cost you 6K just to fix that. Sometimes a 2K car is more expensive then a 7K one. Buy the best you can afford, it'll be cheaper in the long run.

Hard to say from the data provided. I'm buying a decent 60 HT for $1600, but have spent over 5K on nice ones, and many are worth more.

i.e. A solid car needing paint and interior might cost you 6K just to fix that. Sometimes a 2K car is more expensive then a 7K one. Buy the best you can afford, it'll be cheaper in the long run.

I've looked at this car personally. Did so about a year ago. It's BS that it's been a garage all along! This I know because when I saw it, it had been sitting out for a number of years. I looked at the floorboards and they were solid, however, this had been an older gal's car almost since new. There wasn't a panel on the car that hadn't suffered from her poor driving "skills". Without addressing these disfigured areas, someone did a crappy paint job on the car.
The guy that had the car told of how someone had stolen the carb off it while it sat at his late mother's home up in the mountains. So the guy buys another WHOLE Studebaker to get a replacement carb for the '61![)] The other car, you got in the deal if you bought the '61 and the other car was a clapped out - badly rotted 62 4dr sedan if I remember right. White in color, I think. There was also a badly rusted 63 doghouse throw in. All this for $2K.[|)]
The primary car was the real worth of the deal and while it's intact and probably would drive with a carb, battery, hoses n' belts, tires and certainly a brake job - I couldn't see dragging them all home. Admittedly, a hardtop - and if I remember right - with decent upper beltline moulding - but not worth the effort since I'm not personally attracted to this model.[:I]

Yeah Me and Bob are going in halves on them. He's the one that saw the penny saver ad. There was just stuff on the parts car that I had a use for. So what can I say. David told me to go look for him so I did. Brought Bob along he offered to split the deal so I guess they come home with me.
