  • Spring hath Sprung

Apologies for the picture quality, these stinkers can be quite skittish.....

That Lark he's fighting there is not the normal type of bird. This ones a little larger and a little more stubborn to drive away. [}]

Ah yes when the robins return to attack the rival birds, the rival windows, and rival shiny surfaces is a sign spring has come back to our region. [)]

Don't worry folks, he won't do much damage to that "other bird" in the wheelcover. A couple weeks of this and he'll tire of trying to run his equally matched opponent off. At least it's not the picture window on the house yet.....

The 'Snowbird' migration north is in full swing....
    It has definite milestones...
Feb 1st... First wave of Yankee's who can't afford to stay the whole winter in Florida head back north,
March first... Include 90% of the Feb 1st crowd (and stay off any interstate heading north)....
    Watch the weather channel...
Each storm front is preceded by a gabazillion birds heading north..
Last week there were 5,000 Robins in my yard..
    Today? None...
    Same for every migrating species...
We have the Hummingbird feeders out, awaiting the scouts right now...

Our one legged robin is back this makes the 2nd year he has been here. What kind of GPS are they using? Washed 2 Studebaker's today. Change oil and grease tomorrow. And then it's the lawnmowers turn.

Yep, Spring has definitely sprung--our first 90-degree day and the first rattlesnake of the season. I suspect it is going to be a long, hot summer.

There was a joke I had just thought of with the Robin; If you get other species to see a reflection in the chrome, you can stop polishing. [)]
