  • Paint scheme for 49 straight 6?

Does anyone have any information about the correct paint colors for my 49 Champion 6 cyl. engine?

    Thanks.

The correct color for most of the engine is a green that is sort of olive, but not quite. Easiest way to get the right color is to buy it ready to paint from a Studebaker vendor. The starter and generator are usually black, but I have heard some say that the original starter was sometimes sprayed along with the block at the factory.(I would paint mine black) Most of the things that you would see on the block like oil fill tube, dipstick handle, engine mount brackets and the like, were attached before the engine was painted and got the same color.
The oil filter housing will be either black or orange depending on whether it was factory or dealer installed. There was a thread on the forum about this not long ago.
