  • 1964 6 Door Limousine

    Hi All,

I received the Aussie club member listing this week and noticed that a fellow in WA (Western Australia) has a 1964 6 Door Limousine - serial number C505578, this is I take it a later conversion? It couldn't have come from the factory that way could it?

No John it didn't! It is a V-8 and it was built in Canada, most likely with FOUR doors.

Thanks Rich, I didn't think so, four doors is probably correct (smile). There is a couple in NSW who have what is described as a 1967 prototype, which means (I think) that it copies what the Canadian design team (Marks & ?) thought would have been good. Serial number C533379 and they also own C533329 so I guess both are 1966 Cruisers.

Dave, is that the one in TWs back around late 70s early 80s that I think an oil barren had? I'd have to dig through them and see out of curiousity.

The May, 1975 TW edition had an article on a 1964 4 door convertible that was custom built for the President of Israel.

A lot of companies made airport transportation cars with anything from 6 to 12 doors (depending on the model). Might be an airport car.

This one resides in South Carolina. It is my understanding that it is one of only two built in 1951.

Re: the Israeli car, folks there tried to locate it it years later only to learn it had been cut up for scrap and was now gone.

                    Hi

The car was written up in the December 1900 TW, page 32. It was built by George and Domenic Sain of Perth using a '63 Daytona Wagonaire for the front portion cut just behind the rear door mated to the rear half of a '64 Cruiser cut at the B-pillar. The interior was fitted with all the usual stretch limousine appointments.

I was looking through my back issues for another article and happened to run across the feature.

He would need the correct year of Turning Wheels to look it up. I know that it was just a typo, but "1900" does not help.

Thanks for the info, I have no copies of TW I give them away after reading them as I don't have space to keep them. It's not a "real" Cruiser anyhow as it was made from 2 cars.
