  • Does anybody remeber him ?

There used to be a fellow by the name of Roy Heckers who used to advertise monthly in TW & was a dealer with misc. parts. He seemed very religous & always signed off by saying "God bless all there"
Around Xmas his adds were in the shape of a Xmas tree. This is going back to the 1980's.I purchased a few things from him(repo mylar for P/H) I believe he live in Chula-Vista California & was elderly way back then & was curious as to his being still with us or not & if not who purchased his stock & took over.
He was a nice fellow & me & few other old-timers were going back & wondered what became of him.

He still runs ads in our newsletter, but being that I'm always 'In-&-Out' to sea, I unfortunetly have nothing more to add...
Our next meeting is in a couple of weeks- I'll ask around if you wish.

I found this thread from the search..... have been thinking this very thing lately. I too bought parts from Roy around 94 when I was doing my Avanti. I do remember that his wife had a pretty severe stroke & taking care of her took a great deal of his time.

I purchased a lot of parts from him in the 80's. Glad to hear he is still in the parts business even if it is to a limited degree.

I used to buy alot from Roy when I lived in Los Angeles and was redoing our 60 Lark ragtop. I had one really frustrating and rather bizarre dealing with him over some beltline mouldings for it.

I bought all the engine overhaul parts from him in 1988 to do the R1 in my 64 convertible. At that time he was the only one who had a set of pistons. He was great to deal with at the time and very fair prices. Hope he is doing ok.

I purchased our '50 Starlight Coupe from Roy about 1985. A great San Diego, Pacific Ocean, car. Rust on the top surfaces, not road rot. He was great to work with. If any San Diego area folks see him, give our regards.

Called in at Roy Hecker's home back in 1978 before the SB Meet with another couple of Aussies & found Roy most hospitable. He had some nice saleable Studes at the time & plenty of desirable parts in storage sheds. We all spent a few dollars with him. Where has that 30 years gone?
