  • Any truth to this?

IJn the mail today I received a brochure for an auction that Kruse is having in Ft. Lauderdale on January 5th, 6th and 7th. Included is a '62 GT Hawk that has the following description (with misspelled brand name):

"1962 Stud[u]a</u>baker GT Hawk. This is a very, very rare car. Original factory: V-8, 4-speed, air condition, power steering, power brakes, power windows car. It has a mint original black body and interior. The car has only 52,000 original miles and has wire wheels. It is very fast and in show condition. This is the only one built and known to exist with all of these rare options."

Can anyone verify that last statement?

For a show car? spose anything's possible. However, power windows weren't an option nor were wire wheels.

There WERE PWs available in the 50s Hawks, so the electric parts would be available (fact is I have a set of NOS regulators and motors for a Hawk.).

No deceptive flags to prove I'm patriotic - no biblical BS to impress - just ME and Studebakers - as it should be.

If they got the 'fast' part wrong and misspelled words, the whole year/model may be wrong. Whats 'fast' about a 62????
There was a picture, so I know it it is a GT Hawk and it has the painted vents so I presume it is a '62. Nothing fast about mine either other than the leakage of oil through the motor!

Sounds like the "one off" show car 57 Golden Hawk Kruse sold for 45K. It had 62 GT buckets, grill, a 1966 AC unit and more.

Many years (25 or so)ago I almost bought a beat up 62 GT that had power windows. The car had been sitting for a long time and was pretty bad and I passed on it as the price was a little steep. It was an automatic, factory "orange" paint...or what was left of it...
