Vintage Stude customs

I was browsing around and came across these old magazine with custom Studes on the cover:



Motor Life from March of '57, looks like a '53/'54 Starliner to me. I can't place the grille (although I'll admit to kind of liking it!). And then there's this one:



Motor Life again from July of '57. Looks like maybe a '56 Hawk with a '56 Chrysler grille and a modified '53/'54 hood. The bumperettes are interesting! I like cover slug: "What the '58 Chevrolet [u]Should</u> look like!"

I love these old Stude cover shots. Anbody got any more?

Of the two I really like the first one. I don't recognize the grill but the front end looks rather Lincolnish to me. Early Mark I?

The grills are those of a stock '53 Stude. [8D]

What a great idea to take a wore out C-K and customize it like the magazine cover. The first one in ragtop configuration. You would have a one of kind for sure.

I think you hit it with the Lincoln ID, Joe - not the grilles, but the headlight doors!

There was a 55 Studebaker for sale in Richmond a few years ago that looked like someone was trying to make one of those 50s customs. I don't know what happened to it.
