Old photos of family Studebakers

I collect old snapshots of Studebakers and I also have a large collection of the Studebakers that were in my family when I was growing up. The photos start with my Grandfather's 42 Commander and end with the 62 GT Hawk I had in college. If anyone has old photos of the cars they grew up with, please post them on this site. It should be very interesting, especially if they are like the 58 Packard that Mr. Biggs posted.

In the summer of 1958, my Mother wanted to trade in her 53 Champion for a new car, with my prodding! The salesman at Pence-Briggs Studebaker brought out a 58 Champion 4 door sedan. It was white with a black top with single headlights in the dual pods and dog dish hub caps. I said that is the ugliest car I have ever seen (of course, now I think 58 sedans are neat!). I pitched such a fit, that the salesman took the car back and a few days later came out with a 58 Silver Hawk, white with gold fins and a 289 4bbl. engine. After much persuading, my Mother bought it. It was probably the happiest day of my life. I was only 13 but I learned to drive on it at the age of 15 which was the legal age to drive in VA back then. Below is my Sister and her friend in the trunk.

I made some modifications to the Hawk. I painted the wheel rims black and sent away to J.C. Whitney for some flippers which I put on the wheel covers. I put on the curb feelers to keep my Mother from knocking the flippers off, but she did it anyway. I later put full moon wheel covers on it.

I also made some modifications to the engine like the chrome air cleaner, red translucent spark plug wires (which interfered with the radio!) and I pinstriped the valve covers.

Hey lstude, what's that on the fan shroud of the Hawk?

I think my grandad has a couple of shots of some of the cars he has now from when he first got them. Like the faded old '57 Silver Hawk he purchased in 1979. But that's not what you meant...
I doubt it if he has any pics of his Dad's Studes or his when we was my age. [8D] A '48 Champ ragtop, I might add.

My great aunt gave me this picture. I'm pretty sure the girl is of no relations to me, but I thought I'd share anyways.
