  • Saved a 1965 Daytona

Well, here is my newest acquisition. It was for sale as a parts car, but aside from a couple external rust-through spots (driver's door mainly) the car is very solid. The floors and trunk are solid and the rocker panels are even intact. Of course the front valance is crunched, as usual. I'm planning on getting some good 195 75 R15 tires on it changing the oil and make an attempt to start it. Well, actually I'll have to have the machanics try it. It hasn't run in years and years, but the engine isn't stuck. After that it'll be parked for the winter while I get a new title for it and keys (both lost).

It could be a parts car, but don't you guys think this would be better as a basis for restoration?

Absolutely. It will make a nice car and there aren't that many of them out there.

        Air conditioned too [8D]!

You might have a tough time finding those 195/75/15's, but 205/75/15's are common and seem to fit and look just fine on these Larks.

Here are pictures of the trunk. The paint is not good under those tires, but the sheet metal is great. Notice the back bumper was put on upside down? That'll be fixed first thing.
The shop I work with put light truck tires on my 1966 Cruiser. They are LT something or other, but are the same as 195s. They have more and I'll put them on this, too. They are 6 ply and came off of mail carriers. At $15 each I can't go wrong!

Scott, that's a very worthy looking car. Was it red?

                        Probably a stupid question...
Is the exterior color a faded red (once matched the interior) or has it been repainted?

Is that a Sports Sedan? Certainly at a glance it looks too nice to shoot in the head.
