  • Fuel Pump pressure for a dual carb set up

How many pounds of pressure would you think I need for a dual Stromburg bvox 26 set up on a 50 commander big six?

Currently I have the factory pump on the car.

Should I be looking at a eletric pump?

I have two Carters on a Weiand manifold, for a 170 ci 6, and the stock pump works fine. I have an electric pump (flow through) that I turn on manually (and only momentarily) only when vapor lock issues give me trouble, or when starting for the first time after a long period without running (weeks).

The pressure for two carbs will be the same as the pressure for one. If the two carbs end up using more fuel than the single carb then you will need more flow but it is unlikely that the stock pump would be inadequate.

If I got an electric fuel pump to add as you did what brand should I look for?

I bought a very low-priced one, since it was for intermittant use only. Don't recall the brand, and although I just looked, naturally, the labelling info is turned around the wrong way due to how I mounted it. I got it from Summit or Jegs, lowest price available. I knew in advance it would probably be noisy, and I was right! The only thing to look for is to ensure that it is "flow-thru", meaning that when turned off, it doesn't restrict the flow from the tank to the mechanical pump. I mounted mine to the frame near the tank, and I suppose if I had used some more sophisticated vibration isolation, I could have quieted it down, but as stated in the post above, I use it VERY seldom, usually when vapor lock issues arise, and when priming the mechanical pump after long periods of storage.
