Had Studebaker any connection with Ferguson England?

In an round about way, yes. In 1962 Studebaker experimented with placing diesel engines in taxi cabs and used a 4 cylinder Perkins powerplant. Perkins had been purchased 4 years earlier by Massey Ferguson, so there is a connection.

Here's one a little farther out on the limb of the family tree: Andy Granatelli bought the Novi racing car team. The last vehicle to ever display the Studebaker name was a Novi, using the Ferguson four-wheel-drive system.

They were terrible, beautiful things. To this day, no car has ever put more horsepower onto the bricks of Indianapolis, and that would include Schumacher's Ferrari.

There was also an experimental diesel powered Zip Van that had a Perkins engine. Last I knew it was in the Asa Hall collection, but do not know who owns it today.
