  • Another car CRYING OUT for better presentation

Definitely significant, looks like it might be a beauty- too bad we can't see it[}] Imagine that car with Steinkamp pictures and listing, or JP. Maybe one of you could make a nice commission scrapping that listing for the seller and re-listing it- the car sure deserves it!

Looks original Bob, wow, 1001, plus an extra "a" in Studebaker. [}] No mention of that R badge right up front.

      Question... Provenance.
Is the body tag suffix 1001 idicative of the 'first' GT Hawk (as claimed)?
Or is it the 1001st body of all types off the line?
      Inquiring minds want to know....

As usual, You are 100% right, Bams! I have a suggestion: Why not buy this poorly-presented car, puff it, and flip it via the presentation it really needs? I am not implying that you are an opportunist; just that you are the one who knows a good deal when you see it! With your background as a car dealer/restorer, and the means to transport said vehicle, it would be a perfect shot for you. What say?

Didn't we just determine sometime around 1960 or so Studebaker began numbering bodies with 101? That would make this the 900th body welded up. No indication of when it was actually produced.

Anybody got the records handy. I'm not sure serial 1001 had an Avanti engine. I was thinking they came a little later??

That discussion was about BODY TAGS, not serial numbers.

The first V8 car produced in South Bend in 1963 was serial number 63V 1001. Although it could have been a V8 Lark, it must have been this Hawk. I'd like to see a picture of the serial number plate and the body tag.

They could have taken the pics outside at least. Looks to be sanding dust all over the engine compartment? That's scary on a low suppose to be mileage car! [:0]

I just checked the cars ID out and it is correct. It is the first pilot car. Original colors, eng jts 1001, hd shocks and springs etc. Neat car. Wonder what it will bring?

Maybe the other guy in the garage got better pics.

Someone tell me what the car in the driveway is. Is it an old T-Bird?
