Old Cars Weekly ran a story with pics a few months ago.Imagine the actual mechanics[and cost] to go into this thing to make it work dependably [I'd just drive around to find a better parking spot]

Just take note that this thing was hooked up on an Cadillac... a big money car even by todays standards. Imagine what the option of the fifth wheel would have set you back if had taken off. For that kind of money you could have just bought a Packard. And help keep Studebaker-Packard in business, nice save hmm MR.Shaw?

I've seen this several years ago on a Packard Carribean except the spare in the continental kit actually did the "parking".

That Cadillac with the 5th parking wheel was in an old Popular Science or Mechanix Illustrated magazine the I have, but I couldn't find it. While I was looking for it, I found this interesting article on an automobile turntable with a Studebaker on it in the June 52 issue of Popular Science.
